Through the Folds of Time with Qasimi

Superstudio Events, Milan

Qasimi once again expresses its visionary philosophy, celebrating the union of cultures, thoughts, and geographies. Memory and the House of Remembrance is the name of the Fall/Winter 2026 2027 collection. Creative director Hoor Al-Qasimi remains faithful to the classic inspiration of the brand founded by her brother Khalid, blending Middle Eastern tradition with contemporary London spirit, mixing innovative materials with traditional shapes and vice versa. The catwalk is set up with a link to the previous collection: the display of raw fabric drapes created by artist Dala Nasser in the earthy shades of an arid but fertile soil, that is constantly transforming and innovating. For this collection, Hoor Al-Qasimi once again collaborated with Lebanese artist Dala Nasser who, together with students from the University of Sharjah, worked on the frottage technique, recreating the surfaces of historical monuments, modeling the textures and colors of the clothes, and giving life to an emotional geography.

Among the garments seen on the runway was a draped sweater inspired by Middle Eastern rugs, with geometric shapes that take on a contemporary feel, thanks to the choice of minimalist black and white and frayed edges. Draping is a key feature of several garments, often used as a stratagem to incorporate precious fabrics into seemingly functional garments, such as a beige double-breasted jacket, embellished with a drape that seems to glisten like sand in the sun. Another Middle Eastern inspiration is present in the long men’s pinafore dresses, which mix Western details such as epaulettes on the shoulders and cuffs with the V-neck of traditional Arab dresses. Among the most daring garments are the checked suits in shades of black, gray, and white, where the draped shirts and softly cut trousers feature a sort of burn, here and there, scattered across the fabric and softened by the use of a blackened transparent fabric. A reminder of memory, of the marks left by the passage of time and its gentle mending. Capes, scarves, and high collars envelop and protect, in a constant process of layering and simplification, fluidity and structure: the result of a poetic exploration of how we preserve memories.
