“En plein cœur”, MAITREPIERRE Pays Tribute to Paul Poiret
One of the names shaping today’s fashion scene, young designer Alphonse Maitrepierre has turned to another pioneer of his time: Paul Poiret. Inspired by the silhouettes of the famous French couturier, exhibited at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in its first major monograph until January, Alphonse Maitrepierre has created a collection that pays homage to his heritage with a resolutely modern touch. Named ‘En plein cœur’, Maitrepierre’s Spring/Summer 2026 ready-to-wear collection evokes the similarities between the two fashion designers’ approaches. Structured yet unconstraining, the garments adapt to the movements of the body and create fluid silhouettes. The colour palette also reflects this softness, and allows for carefully placed bursts of bright colour, enlivening the collection without upsetting the overall balance. Faithful to his commitment to responsible fashion, the designer pursues his collaboration with Nona Source, which supplies high-quality fabrics entirely sourced from deadstock, waste, or certified materials.
Held at the heart of the museum, which in turn features eight silhouettes from Maitrepierre’s collection, the fashion show was followed by Clara Berry, Marie Beltrami, and Alexandra Guerain.
