Aesop x Jack Coulter: Celestial Amber

Aesop presents its latest olfactory creation, “Above Us, Steorra”, a bold and captivating Eau de Parfum that draws inspiration from the night sky, the spirit of non-compliance and a chance encounter with perfumer Céline Barel in an Aesop store. With a name derived from the ancient English word meaning “star”, this fragrance stands out for its modern and sophisticated interpretation of amber. Far from the clichés, “Above Us, Steorra” reinvents the sweetness of amber by highlighting the rich scents of woods and resins. This bold approach gives the fragrance a unique, complex and captivating olfactory signature. With its pronounced and spicy note, Cardamom plays a central role, bringing a vibrant intensity that evokes the incandescent glow of a shooting star crossing the heavenly vault.

While visiting an Aesop store, Céline Barel drew inspiration from the specific atmosphere of the place to create a perfume that transcends conventions. The concept of non-conformity, dear to Aesop, manifests itself in a composition that dares to stray from the beaten track to offer a new yet familiar olfactory experience. But this perfume is also an opportunity for the painter Jack Coulter to express what he felt. For him, aromas evoke memories, emotions, and can be perceived as colors. Presented in this photo gallery, his latest work is inspired by “Above Us, Steorra”, and the dark gray, black-toned colors, and copper hues offer an abstract interpretation of its notes. It is undoubtedly one of the most avant-garde proposals of recent years in perfumery.
