Jarmusch is Back in Venice with “Father Mother Sister Brother”, A Family Comedy-Drama
Five years after playing with zombies in ‘The Dead Don’t Die’ (2019), Jim Jarmusch is back at the Lido with ‘Father Mother Sister Brother’, an intimate film that marks his debut in the Festival’s official competition.
The director took to the red carpet with an exceptional line-up featuring Cate Blanchett and Charlotte Rampling. Alongside them, a spectacular cast: Vicky Krieps with her timeless elegance, Indya Moore and Luka Sabbat. We also spotted Iris Mittenaere, Miss France 2016 and Miss Universe 2016, the festival’s host Emanuela Fanelli, as well as Anja Rubik, Simone Marchetti, Alessia Lanza, Cristina Parodi, Ludovica Bizzaglia, Nilufar Addati and Zarina Yeva.
The red carpet became the stage for an intergenerational microcosm that perfectly mirrored the film’s themes: lonely fathers, elusive mothers, brothers and sisters who lose and find each other. Jarmusch’s cinema has always been an act of resistance to haste and excess, so seeing him shine on the red carpet feels like a perfectly executed oxymoron: minimalism at its apotheosis.
