Kris Van Assche’s Presents his Vase-Sculptures at Laffanour | Galerie Downtown
The former artistic director of Dior Homme and Berluti, Kris Van Assche is unveiling the result of his recent venture into design with the exhibition NECTAR VESSELS BRONZE. In a mysterious, immersive forest decor, the fashion designer presents 14 bronze vases, halfway between functional objects and artistic sculptures. Rounded shapes, raw and refined materials, as well as polished and lacquered surfaces: here, the vases become an artwork in their own right, rather than a tool used to discreetly embellish extravagant flower bouquets. For this carte blanche granted by François Laffanour, Kris Van Assche tackled the creative process in the same way as he would a fashion collection: by working closely with the material and listening carefully to the craftsmen and women at the Fodor foundry in Port-sur-Saône.
