If you aren’t some sort of automotive connoisseur, this car probably has little interest to you. However, our fellow old car enthusiasts will recognise it immediately, as it once belonged to the great rally champion Colin McRae. Designed by the Head of Williams Grand Prix Engineering in collaboration with Austin Rover, the MG Metro 6R4 is the first and only rally car developed and built using vintage Formula 1 technology, and the first one done in collaboration with a leading Formula 1 manufacturer. To this day, the 6R4 remains the only rally car to have an engine designed and built solely for its intended use. Make no mistake, this engine is not a modified road car engine, but one built upon Formula 1 technology of the time. The howl of this mid-mounted V6 engine with over 400 bhp is incomparable. It has been mated to a bespoke four-wheel drive transmission. But be warned, we are dealing with a wild beast.
