The acronym OTW stands for ‘off the wall’, Vans’ line dedicated to collaborations and special projects. The famous brand was created in 1966 by brothers Paul and James Van Doren, who were both passionate about board sports. The two of them founded the Van Doren Rubber Company in California, opening a factory and a shop where they sold their first model, the ‘Vans #44’, known as the ‘Authentic’. Customers could order their pair in the morning, and collect it in the afternoon: the shoes were made within the day. This innovation was bound to appeal to skaters, as their shoes are often damaged and in need of quick replacement. With HommeGirls Expand, Vans is launching a line of clothing inspired by emblematic checkered patterns.
