In the industry, Rolex’s new releases are known to be the most well kept secrets. But this principle was challenged last month for the first time, when a picture of Roger Federer on Instagram showed the player enjoying a delicious meal. But the wrist of the brand’s prestigious ambassador was adorned with THE latest arrival. In the 80s, Rolex also started to think about watches with integrated bracelets. Its first design was a quartz watch called OysterQuartz, which was eventually converted to a mechanical version. Introduced to the market a little too late, this model met little success, and only a handful of collectors were moved by its disappearance. After a 40-year absence, Rolex took advantage of the Watch and Wonders Geneva trade show to introduce an updated edition, the Land Dweller, worn by Roger Federer himself. With its high frequency movement and exceptional performance, it proved to be a real showstopper. Available only in gold and platinum for the time being, the watch remains for now a luxury item accessible to well-off connoisseurs only. But what a sight to behold!
