British Artist Mark Leckey Presents His First Exhibition in Paris at Lafayette Anticipations

Lafayette Anticipations

Until July 20th, Lafayette Anticipations is hosting Mark Leckey’s first solo exhibition in Paris. The British artist is known for his work that shows how music, dance and, generally speaking, the city, can be a source of extraordinary experiences. His exhibition, titled “As Above So Below” (in reference to the Emerald Tablet, one of the most famous texts in the world of alchemy), explores the magnificence of everyday life, the world of raves, and his fascination with the Middle Ages and technology. The phrase implies a continuous relationship between several universes and realities, such as the cosmos and the earth, the visible and the invisible, the animate and the inanimate.

Curated by Elsa Coustou, this psychedelic exhibition explores the theme of ecstasy, for an ethereal and out-of-time experience. From television archives to sculpture and music, Mark Leckey draws inspiration from the world around him, transforming ordinary life into art. In a striking atmosphere, the artist delves into the influence of technology on our experience of reality. At this unforgettable preview, we met Mark Leckey and Elsa Coustou, alongside Rebecca Lamarche-Vadel, Guillaume Houzé, Clément Delépine, Marguerite Humeau, Xie Lei, Christian Berst, Guillaume Sultana, Chris Dercon…
