Ruinart renews its commitment to the art world by entrusting artist Julien Charrière with the 2025 edition of the “Conversations with Nature” series. The project will be unveiled in the French maison’s lounge, set up at AllianzCo in Milan, during the 29th edition of miart, the international fair of modern and contemporary art, taking place from April 4 to 6.
For nearly three centuries, Ruinart has maintained a profound connection with nature, a fundamental element in its Champagne production. The belief that art can raise awareness and transform our perception of the environment inspired the invitation to Charrière, whose creative journey explores the relationship between ecosystems and humanity through installations, photography, and video works.
The artist pays tribute to the Lutetian Sea, which 45 million years ago covered the Champagne region, leaving behind the legendary Crayères, Ruinart’s historic underground chalk cellars. Through a series of photolithographs, Charrière captures the beauty and fragility of coral reefs, emphasizing the connection between geological history and today’s urgent need to protect the oceans. His digital prints, created using pigments derived from local limestone and crushed coral, reimagine natural hues with a refined and evocative aesthetic.
With this collaboration, Maison Ruinart reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and art, weaving past and future into a project that calls for awareness and action in safeguarding the planet (Photo Credits: Alice Jacquemin).
