ALAINPAUL Presents his Ballet-Inspired Silhouettes

Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris

Following on from his work on proportions at Vêtements, ALAINPAUL draws inspiration from the ballet world for his new show, aptly named “PERFORMER”. Reviving the connection between fashion and dance, the wardrobe adopts a few typical features of ballet outfits: the labels inside the pieces are reminiscent of pointe shoes’ elastics, the shoulder pads are placed in the front, and the fashion designer even transformed a pair of warm-up pants into a suit. This fall-winter collection undoubtedly evokes the world of performing arts. Scarves and heavy coats are the order of the day, but the wardrobe is elegant and classy, with numerous suits sporting angular, loose and oversized silhouettes. Fabrics are gathered, even crumpled and draped, for an androgynous style emphasized by the presence of male and female models on the catwalk. During this formidable fashion show at the Théâtre du Châtelet, we met Nathalie Dufour, Pascal Morand, Harry Nuriev, Tyler Billinger, Pascal K Douglas, and many more.
