What’s surprising about this Ferrari is that it doesn’t actually look like one. Its large glazed surface gives it the look of an American car, and its front end, of an English one. So, porridge, pancakes or polenta: what will it be? If the pedigree is anything to go by, it’s undoubtedly an Italian one. Designed by Pininfarina, this car owes its Anglo-Saxon look to its date of manufacture: the mid-50s. At that time, before the following decade gave way to speedsters as pointy as shrapnels, this grand tourer retained its bourgeois appearance, which explains its bonhomie and the light that shines through it. Sure, it’s fast, but with 220 hp, it’s no sports car. One only has to look at the lack of cushioning on the seats to be sure of it. Restored to a brand-new condition, this beauty will be auctioned by Bonhams at the Scottsdale sale starting January 23rd.
