Every year, the Cannes Film Festival becomes the epicentre of the seventh art, gathering not only some of the biggest names in filmmaking but also rising stars and lesser-known figures, who are nevertheless shaping the cinema of tomorrow. The jury of this 78th edition, which runs from May 13th to 24th, is chaired by Juliette Binoche, accompanied by American actress Halle Berry, American actor Jeremy Strong, Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia, Mexican filmmaker Carlos Reygadas, Congolese documentary director Dieudo Hamadi, Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher, South Korean director Hong Sang-soo and Goncourt-winning French writer Leïla Slimani. As Master of Ceremonies, the festival welcomes back Laurent Lafitte, whose performance in 2016 we continue to applaud. As for the opening music, Zaho de Sagazan is handing over the stage this year to Mylène Farmer, who will be unveiling a brand new single for the occasion. Last but not least, a legend among legends, Robert de Niro, will be awarded a Palme d’Or in recognition of his outstanding career.
